Ready for June fourth
It's now May 9 and for the first day in the month I don't feel the fresh breeze in the early morning. It's the first time since I had the pool that on my birthday, which was Monday, I didn't go into the pool, I don't remember such a cool start to May.
Last week I commented on what it was like to gain confidence, first, and persistence to write “HISTORIA DE LA TIERRA, UNA COSMOGONÍA PERSONAL” and the decision that it was already finished. But I still didn't show it to anyone, only Rebeca and my children knew of its existence, but not even they had read it.
That's where I was when I tripped and rolled on the ground, fortunately nothing serious happened to me, by Wednesday I was already running again.
It's funny how the name of the book came about. One day, while I was sharing a few beers with Guille at the pool, he asked me what the book was about. I began to explain to him. After a while he interrupted me, “Oh, I understand, you are writing your personal cosmogony.” From there to: “HISTORY OF THE EARTH, A PARTICULAR COSMOGONY” was just a small adjustment.
Now I already had the content and the title, that was in October of last year. So I decided to share it for the first time. I shared it with Rebeca and my children and the first one away from home, a dear friend who is dedicated to issues of writing and text style. He gave me good comments, but told me that at that moment he had a lot of work, that he would look for me later. He was the first to tell me that the book reminded him of Yuval Noah Harari, which obviously made me very happy.
While I had more comments from my friend, I asked Guille, who is a designer, to design the cover of the book and it occurred to me that each chapter begin with an illustration, I asked Mariana and Guille to do them themselves.
Since I didn't have a response from my friend, I decided to ask Soco, my sister, for help, who is about to finish her PhD in English translation (her exam is next week), so she must have impeccable writing in both languages. She made important observations, which improved the reading of the text and enriched it. But I must say that what surprised me most is that most of the text was unchanged, I thought it would have many corrections.
The next thing was to prepare them for publication, from the beginning I always considered doing it independently on Amazon. So to look for all the information available to prepare the book in compliance with Amazon's standards, the truth is that I don't know how many YouTube videos I watched and how many free courses I signed up for. I came across many free courses, with valuable information, but designed to “catch” the student and get them to sign up for a course/platform to publish on Amazon. I never considered signing up for any of them.
All of this was valuable, not only did I learn everything necessary to prepare the book to be published in print and electronic versions, I also learned that the work does not end there, you have to get into the promotion and marketing of the book.
I have already submitted the book to Amazon, I hope within today to have it accepted for publication or, if applicable, what adjustments to make.
But I'm sure there will be a problem for it to be published on June 4, it's really already ready, but I'm leaving a little more than a month to promote the book before its launch.
In short, I finished the book and consider it ready; it took more than 6 months, dedicating time to it, for it to be ready, and it is still missing.
